Anyone who knows me knows that I absolutely LOVE summer! I love the weather yes, but mostly I love having no schedule for three blissful months and TONS of time to spend with my kids. There are some drawbacks however, one of them being the dreaded "I'm bored" phrase :) You parents all know what I'm talking about! In order to avoid this we have come up with a summer activity list that we write out at the beginning of our summer vacation. It has lots of activities on it, some are small, some are big, some happen, some don't. The beauty of it is that we have awesome ideas and whenever we need one it is there.
I work from home and so it is always a little difficult to find a balance between finding time to work and also finding time to be with the kids. The list helps a ton by giving them something to work towards. For example, last week I needed to work and it was beautiful outside SOOOO I compromised with the kiddos and I worked while they cleaned up the house for me (yeah, I make them do that because they make the messes not me ;) ) and then we went to the zoo. It was a perfect day AND we were able to check one of our activities off of "the list". Here is our list (which we add to frequently) just in case you need some ideas :)
- Paddle boats at blue lake park
- Make s'mores (alot)
- Go to sauvie's island beach every week (because it's one of our favorite places to go....and after we always get ice cream from the farm store and its one of my favorite things too even though I dont really like ice cream)
